Scholarship Application Process
Each year our Foundation awards scholarships to deserving high school seniors who matriculate to institutes of higher learning in the upcoming fall. Our application process begins in late January to early February when we announce the funding levels and guidelines for that year’s programs.
Detailed guidance for the two Scholarship Programs funded by our Foundation is provided in the following materials. Please note that the application materials are from our 2024 application process but may change in the next cycle.

Annual Essay Contests
Annual Essay Contest for High School Seniors
The George M. Hampton Foundation proudly presents our Annual Essay Contest, designed exclusively for ambitious high school seniors poised for college. Engage in this intellectual challenge and seize the chance to win financial awards!
Eligibility Criteria:
- Open To: All college-bound high school seniors.
- Essay Content: Essays must be between 700 and 750 words and are judged on originality.
Talent Hunt Program
The Foundation partners with the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. to host an annual Talent Hunt Program. This exciting initiative aims to discover and showcase the best local high school talent in the performing and visual arts. Here’s what you need to know:
Purpose: The Talent Hunt Program provides exposure, encouragement, and financial support to talented young students in grades 9 – 12.
Categories: Participants may compete in six categories:
Drama
Instrumental Solo
Piano Solo
Vocal Solo
Dance
Visual Arts
Omega U Mentoring Program
OMEGA U is career readiness mentoring program that focuses on character, leadership, scholarship, and community service by exposing students to various careers, lectures and tours, educational workshops, and seminars. We have provided over $50,000 in funding to the Omega U program.

About Omega U
Omega U is an after-school mentoring program founded in 2011 at Potomac Middle School in Dumfries, Virginia. Since then, we’ve expanded to serve multiple schools in the Prince William County community.
Our Mission
Omega U aims to provide A World-Class Education for students in the greater Prince William County area. We achieve this through our four pillars of success:

Through your donations, the Omega U Program, in partnership with Northern Virginia schools, local non-profits, colleges and universities, will continue to provide a world class mentoring program for students in Prince William County, Virginia.

Community Support Projects
Our commitment to fostering community growth is demonstrated through our financial support of various local charitable organizations. Among these are the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and the Acts Program, which both play pivotal roles in community development. Additionally, we extend our support and contributions to a range of community health and wellness programs. Although our primary focus is on youth in our local community, we sometimes provide funding in support of national initiatives such as the Relay for Life Cancer initiative, the annual Walk for Diabetes. Moreover, we often to support the life-saving work of St. Jude Hospital.
These endeavors are frequently conducted in partnership with the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Inc., reflecting our shared vision of service and community engagement.
